In case you missed it, about a month ago a former Amherst College student gave this account of how she was treated by the administration following her rape by another student.  Recently, the story has been picked up by several news sources, including the New York Times, and has prompted this poorly-written editorial in the Atlantic.  The editorial writer, Wendy Kaminer, produces a textbook example of how not to write about rape.  She engages in victim-blaming, she downplays the harmful consequences of rape, and she all but accuses the victim of lying.  In response, Chelcie Laggis, founder of endrapeculture.com, wrote this wonderful open letter on Feministing.  It’s quite short, and very well written.  I suggest you read it.
